This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. It is a mission-critical role supporting the U.S. Cyber Command within the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level.

About the Role

This position is located in the DISA Cyber Security Division/Cyber Security Operations Branch. The incumbent will assist customers, resolve complex issues with minimal business disruption, and ensure the rigorous application of information security and assurance policies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage customer support policies, procedures, and performance requirements.
  • Lead rapid response teams in addressing customer service problems resulting from catastrophic events.
  • Analyze and resolve a complete range of operational problems, referring issues as needed.
  • Develop, update, and maintain a comprehensive database of technical resolutions.
  • Evaluate and report on new tools and trends in the customer support field.
  • Ensure compliance with information security and assurance policies in delivering customer support services.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • Requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance; failure to maintain eligibility may result in termination.
  • Must complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months per DoD 8140 policy.
  • May be subject to initial and random drug testing.
  • This is a Mission Essential Position; incumbent may be required to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may be subject to recall during off-shift hours.
  • Requires a Secret/Non-Critical Sensitive (S/NCS) security clearance.
  • Some travel may be required in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulations.

Qualifications

To qualify for this GG-12 position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing IT-related work or data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
  • Customer Service: Experience maintaining customer relationships, assessing IT needs, and developing tailored solutions.
  • Oral Communication: Experience briefing mid-level management and IT staff on system status, projects, or operations, including translating technical information for non-technical audiences.
  • Problem Solving: Experience identifying alternatives to address complex IT issues by gathering information from multiple sources.

Qualifying experience includes at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, such as:

  • Accessing and developing IT policies for organizational application.
  • Applying project management and financial management principles.
  • Briefing leadership on financial and operational recommendations to improve efficiency.

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GG-12 grade level.

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does not confer eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service.
  • Current federal employees will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • A 3-year probationary period may be required to evaluate fitness for continued employment.
  • Telework availability is mission-dependent and subject to supervisory approval.
  • Selected candidates may be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment.
  • This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 and may be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
  • Veterans' Preference will be applied to eligible candidates in accordance with DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 3005.
  • Priority consideration may be given to Military Reserve, National Guard technicians, and Retained Grade employees at the full performance level.
