Inventory Control Administrator

About the role

The Inventory Control Administrator is a key position supporting company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. Under limited supervision, this role manages the inventory control process to meet financial targets and ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Focus on and promote Safety in all aspects of the job and company meetings.
• Manage approximately $15 million of inventory to maintain cycle count variance goals.
• Oversee and perform detailed cycle counts to minimize out-of-stock situations and ensure inventory accuracy.
• Generate daily cycle count reports for the cycle count team.
• Ensure inventory items are counted according to the Cycle Count Program following ABC stratification.
• Investigate negative inventory balances, determine root causes, and implement corrective solutions.
• Analyze inventory problems reported by Purchasing, Manufacturing, or Accounting and recommend corrective actions.
• Review and approve cycle counts for validity before system adjustments; ensure recounts are performed when required.
• Supervise daily operations of Cycle Counters, including performance evaluations, promotions, merit raises, and job assignments.
• Perform monthly unit counts of whole goods with the manufacturing team and resolve inventory issues.
• Audit the pick side of order processing for accuracy and report findings to the Warehouse Manager and Controller.
• Audit the receiving process, including vendor packing lists, purchase orders, and put-away accuracy.
• Audit customer shipments using error reports to investigate missed picks and long/short shipments.
• Monitor warehouse inventory locations for shrinkage, write-offs, and adjustments, reporting findings to the Controller.
• Conduct daily interactions with hourly associates on sensitive matters.
• Maintain timely, accurate audits to identify solutions impacting customer satisfaction.
• Act as the lead point of contact for internal and external auditors regarding cycle counts and reconciliation.
• Assist with physical inventories as required.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in warehouse or inventory control in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills to investigate and resolve issues.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively at all organizational levels, including addressing sensitive issues diplomatically.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of JD Edwards is a plus.
• Ability to work overtime, under pressure, and on weekends/holidays as required.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload.

Working Conditions

• Must stand for significant portions of the day while moving throughout the facility, including climbing, reaching, bending, crouching, and lifting.
• Must lift up to 35 pounds and move up to 70 pounds with forklift equipment after training.
• Use hands and arms to handle boxes, parts, and components.
• Adequate vision to inspect parts and components.
