About the role

This is a full-time on-site position at West Star Aviation in East Alton, IL. Responsibilities

  • Repair, refurbish, and reinstall interior upholstery components on business aircraft
  • Perform basic to advanced foam build-ups, patterning, and sewing of seat parts and other upholstery items
  • Remove and install seats, disassemble, clean, repair, and modify components as needed
  • Work independently and effectively communicate (speak, write, read) in English
  • Perform daily turnover sheets, maintain shop and surroundings cleanliness, and follow safety guidelines
  • May supervise other technicians under minimal supervision

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver's license for airline travel (optional)
  • Experience in upholstery in aviation, auto, RV, marine, or related fields
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration guidelines and company policies

Qualifications

  • Basic to advanced upholstery skills
  • Computer skills for navigating electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
  • Physical abilities to lift 50 lbs, walk, bend, squat, sit, and perform repetitive motions
  • Communication skills (speaking, writing, reading)
  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including OSHA, Hazmat, etc.
