Pay

Instructional Assistant III (IA III) – $19.66 to $25.93 per hour, based on the CSEA General Unit Salary Schedule. Benefits included.

Schedule

• 9-month school year (18B calendar)
• 206 work days per year
• 5 days per week, Monday–Friday
• 7-hour work day: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM

About the Role

Instructional Assistant IIIs provide support to students classified as severe/emotionally disturbed (ED), including those in Learning Handicap, Communicatively Handicap, autism, or behaviorist-assigned programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist individual students designated as emotionally disturbed or in autism-specific classrooms.
• Work under the direction of a Behaviorist to implement behavior plans.
• Support groups of children with special needs.

Requirements

• Any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties.
• Experience working with impaired children or adults is highly desirable.
• Coursework in child development is highly desirable.
• Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain, a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire (required in some programs).

Qualifications

• One of the following:
  • Passing score from San Juan Unified School District’s Proficiency Exam (April 2005 or later).
  • Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
