About the role

This job entails selling and/or introducing the company to both new and established clients. Duties include quoting customers and taking orders from customers, entering, tracking, and following up on orders, coordinating between operations and the outside salespeople to meet or exceed customer expectations, building relationships with current and prospective customers, maintaining and expanding the customer database, attending sales group meetings, capturing accurate and complete information in customer relationship management, quoting and handling order execution from acceptance to completion, coordinating between customer and traffic dispatcher to ensure on-time delivery of material, communicating with customers regarding current market information and capturing relative feedback, obtaining and providing feedback on competitor pricing/equipment to management, establishing credible relationships with new customers and maintaining ongoing relationships with existing customer base, managing a database of potential customers and contacting them regularly for new opportunities, teaming with outside sales representatives to build a pipeline of opportunities and close sales, making outbound sales calls to prospects provided by outside sales representatives/managers, noting suggestions or complaints and communicating to the quality/operations group, utilizing CRM software to keep track of important customer 'touches', and supporting the company's quality system.

  • Communicating with customers regarding current market information and capturing relative feedback
  • Obtaining and providing feedback on competitor pricing/equipment to management
  • Managing a database of potential customers and contacting them regularly for new opportunities
  • Team with outside sales representatives to build a pipeline of opportunities and close sales
  • Making outbound sales calls to prospects provided by outside sales representatives/managers
  • Note suggestions or complaints and communicate to the Quality/Operations group
  • Utilizing CRM software to keep track of important customer 'touches'
  • Support the company's quality system

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service or sales required
  • Experience in metals industry distribution or manufacturing preferred
  • Some college education preferred; must be comfortable working with computer systems in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with pipe, tube, fittings, and flanges is a plus

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed entrepreneurial environment
  • Highly developed customer service skills
  • Excellent communications and telephone sales personality skills
  • Effective time management skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize day-to-day activities
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
