Key Responsibilities
- Answer and respond to customer inquiries by phone, email, and in person with professionalism and accuracy.
- Greet and assist walk-in customers in a courteous, professional manner.
- Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate products or solutions.
- Provide technical information and product specifications accurately.
- Answer phones with the highest quality of service when the Customer Engagement Specialist is unavailable.
- Promote and sell electro-mechanical parts such as motors, drives, pumps, bearings, controls, relays, and associated equipment.
- Upsell and cross-sell complementary products to increase order value.
- Process sales transactions efficiently through the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Work consistently to bring in new business for Brandon and Clark.
- Stay up to date with product features, industry trends, and new technologies.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, catalogs, and manuals.
- Liaise with technical support teams for complex product inquiries.
- Prepare quotations and sales orders with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Create and manage purchase orders, sales orders, and quotes in MotorBase and Springpoint.
- Ensure correct customer information appears on sales orders (address, contact person, etc.).
- Follow up with customers on quotations and orders, and coordinate material arrival schedules.
- Maintain customer records and update CRM systems.
- Contact requesters for additional information related to collections, as needed.
- Use Springpoint Academy to deepen product knowledge; the Inside Sales Director may assign relevant classes.
- Maintain a clean, organized desk, sales counter, and product display area.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the purchasing department of shortages or overstock.
- Absorb inventory by assisting with receiving, unpacking, and stocking inventory (occasionally).
- Absorb inventory by ensuring completed jobs are properly documented and ready for customer pickup or delivery.
- Absorb inventory by assisting technicians by locating parts, tools, or documentation as required.
- Work with warehouse staff to maintain accurate inventory.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- A technical certification or associate degree in electrical or mechanical technology preferred.
- 2+ years of counter sales experience in an electro-mechanical or industrial environment preferred.
- Knowledge of motors, gearboxes, VFDs, PLCs, and related electrical/mechanical components helpful.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including proper phone etiquette.
- Proficiency in POS and inventory software systems.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and prioritize effectively.
- Self-starter able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Outgoing, with the confidence to start and hold conversations with unfamiliar people.
- Strong research capabilities and a quick learner.
- A positive attitude and a strong business focus.
- Able to work 40 hours per week on a regular basis (excluding holidays and PTO), with occasional overtime as needed.
- Willing to participate in a rotating after-hours Manager-on-Duty (MOD) schedule.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in an office, warehouse, and/or shop-floor setting.
Work Environment
- Office setting within an electrical shop environment, with electrical and environmental hazards and varying temperatures.
- Regular interaction with customers, co-workers, technicians, and management.
- Some travel may be required, including opportunities to meet with manufacturers for education and vendor shop tours.
