About the role
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a Full-Time IT Specialist (SYSTEMS ANALYSIS) to work at Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) - 75th Air Base Wing, on Hill AFB in Layton, UT. This position includes cyberspace work as a paramount duty requirement.
Responsibilities
- Perform continuing evaluations to define opportunities for new or improved business process solutions.
- Evaluate automated equipment, equipment locations, use, costs, and acquisition.
- Conduct feasibility studies including research of organizations’ functional descriptions and objectives to determine IT system requirements and applies fact finding processes to identify methods to meet those needs.
- Analyze business processes and workflow procedures, gather information from consultation with managers and individual users, studies work products, and observe work processes.
- Apply statistical and evaluative methodologies of security, reliability, and utilization of systems and networks already in existence in the organization to determine if organizational needs can be met by enhancing existing assets or if replacement is more cost effective.
- Conduct market research, initiates equipment demonstrations, and gathers technical and cost data applicable to the study.
- Synthesize findings into a proposal which translates functional requirements into design specifications that include hardware, software, database, and other requirements which will meet the business needs of the organization.
- Develop new or modify existing system layouts, interrelationships, and sequences.
- Develop acquisition and procurement recommendations addressing scope, objectives, and a variety of issues including cost benefit analysis and life cycle management concerns.
- Propose alternative solutions considering resources availability, technical environment, training requirements, and potential for organizational and personnel change.
Requirements

- Able to pass a pre-employment physical
- May be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty
- This position may require work to be performed during hours outside the normal duty schedule
Qualifications
- Knowledge of a wide range of IT principles, systems analysis concepts and techniques, new and emerging information technologies, and security methods and principles.
- Knowledge of customers’ business processes and operations to anticipate and refine functional requirements.
- Knowledge of concepts and principles of sequencing actions, procurement techniques and requirements, and coordination requirements involved in project controls.
- Knowledge of design tools, methods, and techniques as well as life cycle management concepts, cost benefit analysis, system architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods.
- Knowledge of customary approaches, techniques, and requirements appropriate to analyze requirements, develop acquisition strategies, and implement system enhancements.
- Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances, to apply internet technologies to analyze networks and the related security aspects, and predict how management can meet future requirements.
