The Role
The HR Generalist – Night Shift is the primary HR contact for employees and leaders during off-shift operations. This role focuses on delivering a strong and consistent employee experience through day-to-day HR support, employee engagement, coaching, and compliance. This position is highly visible on the manufacturing floor and plays a critical role in improving engagement, reducing attrition and absenteeism, and supporting frontline leaders.
This role emphasizes relationship-building, problem-solving, and hands-on HR support.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for all HR-related questions and employee needs during night shift
- Maintain a strong, visible presence on the manufacturing floor and in employee areas
- Support employees with benefits, payroll questions, attendance, and general HR inquiries
- Partner with leaders and employees to resolve day-to-day HR issues quickly and effectively
- Lead night shift engagement initiatives aligned to employee feedback and People Survey actions
- Plan and execute recognition programs, events, and engagement activities
- Conduct listening sessions, pulse checks, and informal check-ins to gather employee feedback
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment
- Focus on support efforts to reduce turnover and absenteeism through follow-up, coaching, and engagement
- Partner with leaders to identify attendance trends and implement practical solutions
- Reinforce attendance expectations and support consistent application of policy
- Coach supervisors on performance management, employee conversations, and attendance management
- Provide guidance on policy interpretation and workplace behavior
- Support investigations, corrective actions, and disciplinary processes
- Ensure consistent and fair treatment of employees
- Support HR processes including FMLA, LOA, ADA, and accommodations
- Ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws
- Maintain accurate documentation for employee relations and compliance matters
- Partner with HR, Legal, and Safety teams on higher-risk cases as needed
- Support payroll and timekeeping processes, including reviewing and correcting time records
- Aid in pay adjustments, attendance tracking, and payroll inquiries
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for hourly employees
- Support onboarding for new employees on night shift
- Partner with training and operations to ensure employees are set up for success
- Reinforce key policies, expectations, and standard ways of working
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
- Employee relations, or supervisory experience in an operations environment preferred

- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, off-shift environment
- Basic knowledge of HR processes (payroll, attendance, benefits, employee relations, compliance)
- Data literacy and analytics capability: Ability to read, interpret, and question data
- Experience using data to drive decisions
- Advanced Microsoft applications and Power BI skills
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in digital and AI enabled solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident coach with sound judgment and presence
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high accountability factory environment
Working Environment
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment
- Regular exposure to noise, machinery, and production environment
- PPE required: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, hair nets, sanitary footwear
- Physical requirements may include standing, bending, walking, and lifting
