Responsibilities
- This position is accountable for retention, engagement, training, coaching and mentoring plant professionals and new supervisors.
- Maintains positive Company-employee labor relations through fair and efficient conflict resolution, investigations, discipline, and equitable use of the working agreement and plant work rules.
- Oversees activities associated with employees during the probationary period for purposes of retention including orientation, evaluations, coaching, and termination when appropriate.
- Provides safety support and oversight of night shift safety practices, compliance, and incident response activities.
- Ensures compliance with government regulations, company policy, procedures, and employment eligibility. Provides leadership for employee engagement initiatives while championing inclusion and diversity.
- Provides direct and indirect day-to-day guidance and development to HR admins, HR technicians, and other HR staff.
- Uses data and HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, engagement) to identify trends and drive improvements.
- Coaches and partners with leadership on performance management, employee relations, and workforce engagement.
- Affirms and executes training and development plans aligned with operational needs.
- Assists with hiring office hourly and plant hourly production team members including recruiting, interviewing, placement, onboarding, and orientation.
- Assumes the responsibilities of the Human Resource Manager when absent.
Qualifications
- The level of position offered (Associate HR Generalist, HR Generalist, or Senior HR Generalist) will be dependent on candidate experience and skill set.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrated skills in the area of employee relations.
- A strong pattern of initiative, accountability, achievement and leadership.
- Proven problem solving, decision making, persuasive, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on an off-shift with limited on-site HR support.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters.
- Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

- Preferred: Bilingual Skills, Experience in a manufacturing/processing environment, Experience working in a union environment, Prior experience in a salaried HR position.
