About the role
Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, is seeking skilled apprentices to join their team. The company is dedicated to providing high-quality heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) services to various industries, including data centers, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, and higher education.
Responsibilities
- Provide the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, offering solutions and outcomes during service calls.
- Perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites under the guidance of certified trainers from the Service Technical Academy (STA).
- Participate in certified training to build skill sets for continued opportunities in recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement.
- Develop troubleshooting and customer needs resolution skills through coaching and mentorship.
- Keep JCI, contractors, and customers informed about job progress and issues as necessary.
- Maintain attendance for required Union training for the first year of employment.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
- Generate quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- At least 1+ years of industry experience or equivalent experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally to customers and other external contacts.
- Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and prioritize safety in all forms.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Prior experience in a trade school or college with a technical emphasis is preferred.
