About the role
Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support the fast-growing HVAC business in North America. The position involves working on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems.
- Provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
- Write and communicate to customers about facility issues, causes, and corrective actions.
- Provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
- Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
- Enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
- Work with other local market mechanics, Servicemen, and apprentices, providing on-the-job training when necessary.
- Able to prioritize safety in all forms.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- Minimum of eight (8) years commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry and Industrial Petrochemical, or Data Center vertical environments.
- Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and/or ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
- Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
- Able to install complete systems, including chillers, rooftop units, plumbing, and all supporting mechanical systems.
- Able to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines and perform mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, laser, etc.
- Able to write and communicate effectively to customers about facility issues and provide quotes.
- Prioritize safety in all forms.
Qualifications
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.

Pay
The pay range is $32.30 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
