About the role
The Oregon Department of Human Services seeks a Human Services Supervisor (Human Services Supervisor 2) to lead and supervise employees and programs in a team environment. This position involves providing resources and services to help people move out of poverty and toward whole well-being, managing local office staff, and collaborating with community partners.
Responsibilities
- Supervise staff, assign, monitor and review work.
- Aid in professional development, coaching, monitoring performance, providing direction, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and resolution of complaints.
- Provide direction to local office staff to achieve and maintain performance measures.
- Maintain strong relationships with community partners and families.
- Collaborate with state agencies and community partners to coordinate services.
- Manage Self Sufficiency programs, develop program rules and policies, and participate in district planning and special projects.
- Monitor and analyze local office effectiveness in policy implementation and application.
- Analyze, evaluate, and monitor operational effectiveness through observation and reports gathered by reviews, routine monitoring, and quality control data.
- Anticipate agency needs and direction.
- Facilitate changes in services, programs, community partnerships, and use of department resources.
- Model Equity North Star goals and ODHS Core Values of Stewardship, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Service, Equity, Innovation, and Professionalism.
Requirements
- A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Four years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience OR one year of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

- Responsible for handling sensitive topics related to trauma, abuse, and crises, requiring a trauma-informed approach.
- Handles high-volume workload with short timeframes.
- May involve occasional overnight stay away from local area for trainings or conferences.
