About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks a Human Resources Specialist (NH-0201-03) to join the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) at the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah. This position offers a rewarding career with benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and recommend new and innovative corporate policies, practices, and processes for the management of civilian personnel policy and programs across the AFSC.
  • Lead projects and studies encompassing the Directorate of Personnel and the AFSC.
  • Oversee Acquisition Demonstration (ACQDEMO) Program Management for over 17,000 civilian personnel.
  • Oversee Awards/Recognition Program Management for 34,000 civilian/military personnel across the AFSC.
  • Apply critical thinking to identify, consider, and present options in line with the organization's mission and program goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • May be required to travel for temporary duty.
  • May have extended/other than normal duty hours.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSA)

  • Knowledge of a wide range of federal HR laws, executive orders, regulations, policies, directives, instructions, and concepts governing HR functions such as merit promotion, recruitment and placement, affirmative employment, employee and labor-management relations, employee performance and conduct issues, and other programs.
  • Knowledge of advanced federal HRM principles, concepts, practices, analytical methods, a wide range of qualitative and quantitative techniques, and relationships of various HR disciplines as well as seasoned consultative skills sufficient to resolve complex HRM problems not susceptible to treatment by standard methods.
  • Knowledge of organizational structures and functions across a major center or comparable organization to identify, consider, and present options for the resolution of substantive organizational and program issues involving HRM and areas such as resources management, civilian deployment, and other special programs that bring program policies and operations in line with higher level vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Skill in conducting reviews and analyzing and assessing HR program operations to include identifying deficiencies; measuring compliance, consistency, effectiveness, and making recommendations for enhancements and improvements.

  • Must be a current Department of the Air Force (DoW) federal employee.

Benefits

Salary range: $89,508 - $138,370 yearly with locality. Relocation, retention, and student loan incentives may be authorized.
