Human Resources Reporting & Compliance Analyst
About the role
The HR Reporting & Compliance Analyst provides reporting, research, and evaluation work for the Department of Human Resources (DHR). This position is part of the DHR reporting team that designs, develops, configures, and tests simple to complex custom reports using employee personnel and payroll data to support business needs across all branches, agencies, and departments of state government.
This role involves collaborating with clients to understand their reporting needs, translating those needs into technical specifications, and ensuring reports are accurate, efficient, and secure. The team responds to information requests from legal staff, including public records requests, and supports compliance data collection and reporting for federal requirements. Data requests are often confidential or sensitive, requiring careful handling to maintain confidentiality.
Extensive contact occurs with division team members, department program staff, operations staff, configuration analysts, and systems developers. Regular interaction with managers and employees from other agencies and departments is expected. This position is based in Montpelier, VT, with a hybrid telework schedule possible based on team needs, including some in-office requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop custom reports in the HCM database.
- Generate and validate data files and reports.
- Conduct peer reviews to maintain data integrity.
- Collaborate with clients to define reporting needs and translate them into technical specifications.
- Support compliance data collection and reporting for federal requirements.
- Handle confidential or sensitive data with care to ensure confidentiality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information management, or a related field.
- OR four (4) or more years of experience in human resources, finance, or information management, including experience with complex regulations, software systems, business analysis, statistics, and/or data administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree or coursework in a relevant field.
- Experience with data reporting.
- Experience with software query tools.
- Experience with WorkDay, PeopleSoft, Excel, and/or Access.
- Strong customer service abilities.
