About the role

The Human Resources Coordinator supports the Human Resources team at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, fostering positive employee experiences while contributing to various HR functions.

Responsibilities

  • Supports recruitment efforts, including sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating offers.
  • Assists with onboarding new hires, including providing necessary paperwork, setting up benefits, and introducing new employees to the organization.
  • Manages employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HR policies and regulations.
  • Administers benefits packages, including processing enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Supports payroll processes, including data entry, processing timecards, and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Ensures compliance with HR laws and regulations, conducting audits and maintaining documentation.
  • Develops and implements employee development initiatives, such as training sessions and career planning workshops.
  • Advances the Food Bank's mission by collaborating with other departments and community partners.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, human resources, nonprofit management, or related field.
  • At least one year of experience or internship in human resources, or equivalent relevant training and experience in onboarding, benefits administration, or recruitment support.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using HRIS/payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now, preferred).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
