About the role

This Human Resources Assistant role provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support across key HR functions, including employee records, benefits, education and training, employment, compensation, and equal employment opportunity. The position maintains both manual and automated personnel records, compiles sensitive and confidential HR data, prepares reports, and supports HR systems and filing. The Human Resources Assistant serves as a key point of contact by providing accurate information to employees at all levels regarding HR policies, procedures, and processes, while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to established guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of general personnel and clerical tasks to support human resources operations in areas such as employee records, benefits, education and training, employment, compensation, and equal employment opportunity.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date manual and automated personnel records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with established procedures.
  • Collect, compile, and organize sensitive and confidential personnel statistics and information for reporting and analysis.
  • Prepare HR-related reports and documentation based on collected personnel data and statistics.
  • Furnish information to authorized persons and agencies in accordance with established procedures and confidentiality requirements.
  • Provide clear and accurate information to employees at all levels regarding HR policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Support HR administration activities, including onboarding, HR support tasks, and employee relations documentation.
  • Perform general administrative and clerical duties such as filing, organizing records, and maintaining HR documentation.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, including Excel, to create, update, and manage HR documents, spreadsheets, and reports.
  • Assist with HR systems data entry and updates, ensuring records remain current and complete.
  • Provide human resources administrative support to ensure timely completion of HR tasks and adherence to internal timelines.
  • Collaborate with HR team members and other departments to support HR-related initiatives and day-to-day operations.

Essential Skills

  • 0–3 years of human resources experience.
  • Experience providing administrative support in an HR or office environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in human resources administration and HR support.
  • Ability to perform clerical and administrative tasks such as filing and document management.
  • Basic understanding of HR functions such as employee records, onboarding, and HR systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail when maintaining records and preparing reports.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with human resources systems and tools.
  • Background in employee relations support or exposure to employee relations processes.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills to support multiple HR tasks.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills when interacting with employees and authorized external contacts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a structured environment.
  • Comfort working with data and statistics related to personnel information.
  • General administrative experience in a professional office setting.

Work Environment

This role is fully onsite in Stratford, CT, for a 20-week assignment. The position follows a rotating schedule: one week consists of a standard schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, and the following week consists of 10-hour shifts for 4 days. The work is performed in a professional office environment supporting human resources operations, using standard office equipment and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, for daily tasks. The setting emphasizes confidentiality, accuracy, and adherence to established HR procedures and guidelines, with a focus on collaborative work with HR colleagues and other departments.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $23.00 – $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
