HR Generalist - Onsite NYC - Up to $80K

About the role

The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day Human Resources operations for a growing, award-winning hospitality organization. Key responsibilities include payroll coordination, compliance with labor laws, employee onboarding/offboarding, leave administration, and recruiting support.

Responsibilities

• Process and coordinate weekly payroll for approximately 200 hourly and salaried employees.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, New York State, and New York City wage and hour regulations, including overtime, spread of hours, paid sick leave, and other applicable employment laws.
• Cookbook employee onboarding and offboarding, including I-9 administration, new hire documentation, and final pay processing.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, policies, and leave programs.
• Support leave administration, including FMLA, New York Paid Family Leave (PFL), and other applicable leave policies.
• Absorb employment verifications, workers' compensation claims, unemployment claims, audits, and compliance reporting.
• Partner with managers to support recruiting efforts, interview coordination, and hiring processes.
• Support the rollout of HR initiatives, policies, and process improvements.

Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses 2+ years of HR experience, preferably within hospitality, restaurant, retail, etc., excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, and a strong working knowledge of New York State and New York City labor laws and employment regulations.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Experience administering payroll preferred.
