About the role

The HR Benefits Coordinator performs involved clerical and technical work in the Human Resources Department. This role involves assembling, reviewing, processing, and entering various personnel data, researching files, and maintaining related records. Work is performed according to established policies, procedures, and deadlines, with minimal supervision. The position is classified as non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Responsibilities

  • Reviews benefits options with new hires and explains post-service benefit options for terminating employees.
  • Processes all materials related to insurance coverages.
  • Coordinates annual benefits survey, benefits renewal meetings, related forms, and benefits booklets, including ensuring proper entering and implementation of employee benefits.
  • Maintains a current monthly spreadsheet of covered employees.
  • Inputs and maintains human resources information system records pertaining to employee benefits and compiles reports from the database.
  • Maintains the cover page of ADP to provide updated training and announcement information for employees.
  • Processes monthly billings, reviews for accuracy, and resolves discrepancies with appropriate vendors.
  • Prepares and ensures timely completion of all internal and external correspondence and communications.
  • Acts as a liaison with various departments, vendors, and employees to resolve concerns and verify information.
  • Processes Workers’ Compensation claims, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete within specified timeframes.
  • Manages and communicates with employees and vendors to ensure all are informed on applicable status updates.
  • Provides annual training for all camp employees.
  • Processes Family Medical Leave requests, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete within specified timeframes.
  • Maintains tracking of used time to ensure accurate balances are noted.
  • Assists with maintaining the Employee Handbook by ensuring policies are current, tracking employee acknowledgements of receipt, and posting approved updates to StarNet.
  • Takes minutes and maintains binders for the Safety Committee, and performs and documents monthly safety rounds of the building.
  • Conducts mandatory one-on-one meetings with all new hires to review company benefit options, explain coverage details, and guide them through the electronic open enrollment system.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent, with a minimum of four years of responsible related experience in general office/clerical work or human resources experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Experience with personal computers and Windows-based software is essential.
  • Knowledge of overall human resources functions is preferred.
  • Must possess knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; business letter writing; basic report preparation; and simple mathematical functions (e.g., addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, ratios, percentages).
  • Must possess knowledge of recordkeeping methods and procedures, including computerized records and database software.
  • Must possess knowledge of departmental policy and procedures and current trends and practices of human resource administration.
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks and projects to completion, maintain confidential and sensitive information, and understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and present information effectively in a group setting.
  • Ability to effectively operate personal computers, fax machines, and other office equipment, as well as software/programs (e.g., Excel spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and inter/intranet).
  • Ability to maintain complex records in an orderly and accurate format, prepare accurate reports, work with minimal supervision, plan work schedules, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to listen, determine needs, find and communicate accurate information, and respond tactfully and courteously to internal/external customers.
  • Analytical, math, and grammar skills sufficient to meet minimum standards of the Youth Ranches Skills Test.
  • Strong orientation to customer service and exceptional skills in working cooperatively with others.
  • Valid Florida Driver License and ability to maintain a safe driving record consistent with agency policy.

Pay

$18.00 per hour

Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse, as required by Florida law.
