Responsibilities
- Supports patient referrals by initiating patient admissions
- Documents patient information in electronic medical records
- Dispatches nurses for patient assessments and admission processes
- Schedules appointments and updates patient records
- Communicates with nurses and patients/families regarding patient status
- Coordinates with nursing staff for efficient admissions
- Orders special equipment/supplies as needed
- Tracks and updates pending patient admissions
- Contacts patients/referral sources to schedule nurse visits
- Attends staff meetings, in-services, and educational seminars
- Creates daily reports on new patient admissions and referral outcomes
- Communicates with patients/families and healthcare providers
- Performs administrative tasks as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of administrative or clerical experience
- Knowledge of electronic medical record systems
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Qualifications
- Knowledge of hospice orientation and training
- Ability to think critically about the admission process
- Associate degree in a field of study (preferred)
Skills
- Effective communication skills (reading, writing, typing, speaking, and listening)
- Intermediate to advanced application of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of internet software
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of medical terminology
