About the Role
The Healthcare Administrator manages the daily operational, compliance, and administrative workflows required to support scalable patient care and non-clinical services within a modern, technology-enabled healthcare framework. This position interfaces directly with clinical teams, billing specialists, and regulatory bodies to ensure strict adherence to HIPAA, state licensing, and insurance guidelines, directly influencing operational efficiency and service quality.
Responsibilities
- Oversee patient registration, scheduling, and billing systems to maintain high operational efficiency across the administrative department
- Monitor compliance standards, ensuring strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines, federal regulations, and state-specific healthcare statutes
- Coordinate with third-party payers, managing prior authorizations, claims submission workflows, and billing dispute resolutions
- Develop, document, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for non-clinical staff to streamline patient onboarding and clinical workflows
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) database administration, overseeing access controls and ensuring data integrity and security compliance
- Analyze administrative performance metrics, tracking patient wait times, billing cycles, and staff utilization to report quarterly KPIs to leadership
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience in healthcare administration, medical practice management, or healthcare operations
- Deep working knowledge of HIPAA regulations, US insurance billing structures (including Medicare/Medicaid), and CPT/ICD-10 coding
- Hands-on expertise with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms such as Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- Excellent organizational and cross-functional communication skills, with a proven ability to lead non-clinical teams
Skills
- Certified Healthcare Administrative Professional (cHAP) or Certified Medical Manager (CMM) credentials (bonus)
