About the role
Schedule: Day Shift – 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
Facility: St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital, Chicago, IL 60622
Responsibilities
- Secure and maintain the patient’s health record upon discharge from the hospital.
- Verify and ensure receipt of all patient records and assemble the documentation into the legal medical record.
- Identify and file loose reports (including transcribed reports) into the legal medical record as appropriate.
- Pull medical records for authorized requests and file in terminal-digit order while maintaining the chart tracking system for ease of retrieval.
- Review medical staff documentation in the Emergency Room record to verify completeness and assign deficiencies to responsible medical staff members for completion.
- Provide customer service by answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including physicians, patients, and family members) while maintaining confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Experience with accurate alphabetic and numeric filing (preferred).
- One year of hospital experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of terminal-digit filing and medical terminology (preferred).
- Computer data entry with 10-key and accurate typing speed of 35 wpm (preferred).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a medical terminology course (preferred).
- Background in business and office training (preferred).
Pay
A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $17.05 to $23.19. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, considering factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
