Job Summary
The SMERF Sales Manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton Omaha Downtown is responsible for developing and growing business within the Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal (SMERF) market segments. This role also involves maximizing revenue across 414 guestrooms, 30,500 square feet of flexible meeting space, and the Executive Meeting Center.
Essential Functions
- Be incredibly friendly, customer-centric, and enjoy creating memorable experiences while having fun in a team-oriented environment.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans targeting Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal organizations.
- Generate new business through outside sales calls, networking events, community involvement, referrals, prospecting, and client relationship development.
- Maintain and grow existing accounts while identifying opportunities for repeat business.
- Solicit, negotiate, and close group room blocks, meetings, banquets, reunions, conferences, weddings, sporting events, and special events.
- Conduct site tours and showcase hotel facilities to prospective clients.
- Prepare and present proposals, contracts, and banquet event agreements.
- Negotiate guest room rates, meeting space rental, food and beverage minimums, and hotel services within approved guidelines.
- Collaborate with Catering, Revenue Management, and Operations teams to ensure successful execution of group events.
- Attend local industry events, trade shows, and community functions to promote the hotel and expand market presence.
- Meet or exceed established revenue goals, activity metrics, and sales targets.
- Maintain accurate account, activity, and pipeline information within the sales management system.
Qualifications
- One or more years of hotel sales experience, preferably within SMERF, group, catering, or hospitality sales.
- Strong knowledge of the Omaha market and community organizations preferred.
- Proven ability to develop new business and cultivate long-term client relationships.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Highly organized with strong time management and follow-up abilities.
- Self-motivated with a passion for hospitality and guest service.
- Hilton brand experience preferred but not required.
System Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Delphi FDC or other hotel sales and CRM systems preferred.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize hotel sales technologies and reporting systems.
