About the Role
This role focuses on developing the Group Market Segment, emphasizing group production for higher-rated, less price-sensitive business within a specified geographic territory and vertical markets. The goal is to solicit new profitable business, merchandise guest rooms and function space to maximize revenue, and ensure an exceptional meeting experience for customers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain aggressive weekly telephone, site inspection, and sales call goals.
- Follow up promptly on all leads.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and follow-up of the Quarterly SMART Sales Action Plan.
- Maintain all files with current trace dates, accurate histories, and relevant booking information.
- Adhere to all sales office procedures and systems.
- Participate in daily business review meetings, weekly GRC reviews, bi-weekly sales meetings, and other required meetings.
- Promote a high-quality company image through professionalism with clients and colleagues.
- Recommend improvements to facilities and services as needed.
- Assist with room set-ups as needed.
- Solicit accounts within assigned market segments using Delphi, Knowland, and other resources.
- Prospect and develop new accounts aligned with the hotel’s Mission Statement and Culture of Caring.
- Actively engage in industry associations and trade shows.
- Stay knowledgeable of market segment subtleties and their role in maintaining hotel profitability.
- Participate in the development of promotions for multiple market segments.
- Stay current with market-related publications to identify industry trends and potential leads.
- Utilize “Sell Sonesta” to refer business to other Sonesta Hotels.
- Achieve monthly room night and revenue booking goals.
- Submit trip sales reports within 7 business days of return.
- Participate in the ongoing forecasting process.
- Follow all P-Card and corporate finance policies and procedures.
- Ensure success through the eyes of employees, guests, and owners.
- Collaborate with resources across departments and the corporate office.
- Influence employees to perform to their highest standard and establish a trusting environment.
- Focus on the mission and well-being of the department, hotel, and company.
- Lead by example with integrity and respect.
- Inspire the team to embrace and demonstrate company values and GUEST People Standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of four years’ experience in hotel Sales preferred.
- Proficiency in Delphi preferred.
- Track record of delivering exceptional guest and client experience.
- Ability to utilize office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, and filing systems.
- Demonstrable expertise in analysis and action-taking.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organization skills.
- Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Hotel and specific market knowledge preferred.
