Grantee Child Services Coordinator

About the role

The Grantee Child Services Coordinator oversees and coordinates programs and services aimed at enhancing the well-being and development of children in the head Start program. The individual works closely with families, enrolled children, and staff to identify and make appropriate referrals to outside mental health and disabilities agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Track and follow-up referrals on children that have been identified as needing additional services through LEA or Help Me Grow.
  • Identifies, tracks, and refers to children and their parents who may need mental health services.
  • Conducts observations, screenings, consultations, and assessments as outlined in the yearly work plan.
  • Collaborate with families, schools, and community organizations to identify and address the needs of children.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of child services programs, collecting data and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records in Child Plus of services provided, client progress, and program outcomes.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of children, ensuring that their voices are heard and respected within the services provided.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical guidelines and legal requirements regarding children’s services.
  • Facilitate Concern Child meetings with designated staff.
  • Collaborate with professional development team to provide training teaching staff, and parents on mental health and disabilities issues.
  • Assists in the coordination of mental health/disabilities services provided.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Provides representation at the Health and Mental Health Services Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Builds and maintains community partnerships with mental health/disabilities providers serving Head Start families.
  • Ensures that job duties are performed in compliance with Head Start Performance and Quality Assurance Standards, along with CAA Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure that all programs and activities are following local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, child development, psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Previous experience working with children and families in a social services or educational setting (3-5 years preferred).
  • Strong understanding of child development, educational programs, and family dynamics.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of children, families, and professionals.
  • Careful, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children and families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
  • Background check and clearance to work with children.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A valid driver's license and valid automobile insurance must be maintained.
  • Must have reliable Wi-Fi access to support remote work as needed.
  • Must pass a background screening and have a current physical.
