Job Responsibilities
- Arranges calls to deceased next of kin and confirms details.
- Schedules Arrangement appointments and emails confirmations.
- Performs removals or transfers as needed, adhering to company standards.
- Greets next of kin and escorts them to the meeting space.
- Facilitates Arrangements Conferences, discussing needs and desired outcomes.
- Promotes funeral, cemetery, and crematory services and merchandise.
- Transitions Arrangements Conferences to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor.
- Presides over visitation, funeral, or graveside services.
- Visually inspects deceased and adjusts casket dressing, attire, or makeup.
- Ensures compliance with contractual arrangements and family expectations.
- Performs event planning responsibilities, including resource planning and ordering of items.
- Prepares event rooms, sets up decor, and cleans up after events.
- May perform attendant duties such as parking lot attendant, driver, usher, pallbearer, or courier.
- May attend community or charity events to represent the location or market.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science.
- Current Funeral Director license within the practicing state.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Industry experience is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in local, state, and federal regulations.
- Proficient in databases and MS Office applications.
- Positive attitude and self-motivation.
- Excellent public speaking and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Ability to build professional and trusting business relations.
- Manual dexterity required for paperwork, calculators, computers, and phones.
- Physical effort requiring pushing and pulling up to 150 pounds.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours and on nights and weekends.
