Job Responsibilities
- Arranges calls to deceased next of kin and confirms details.
- Performs removals or transfers as needed, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Cares for the deceased respectfully and updates removal status in software.
- Greets next of kin and escorts them to the meeting space.
- Facilitates Arrangements Conferences, discussing needs and summarizing desired outcomes.
- Promotes funeral, cemetery, and crematory services and merchandise.
- Transitions Arrangements Conferences to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor roles.
- Directs Services, presiding as MC for visitation, funeral, or graveside services.
- Visually inspects Services Arrangements against contractual arrangements and next of kin expectations.
- Interacts with the family to fulfill their death care requests and promotes pre-need services.
- Planners various event planning responsibilities, including resource planning and ordering of music, flowers, or catering.
- Produces MeM products, such as scanning photos, ordering memorabilia, creating electronic presentations, writing obituaries, and creating online memorials.
- Prepares event rooms, sets up chairs, tables, flowers, guest books, and decor.
- Cleans up after events, identifies property needing repair, and delivers family memorabilia.
- May perform attendant duties like parking lot attendant, driver, usher, pallbearer, or courier.
- Attends community or charity events to represent and promote the location or market.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science.
- Current Funeral Director license within the practicing state.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required to operate company owned vehicles.
- Industry experience is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in cognitive abilities, process and results orientation, motivation, and building professional and trusting business relations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, public speaking skills, proficiency in databases, and MS Office skills.
- Physical demands include manual dexterity for paperwork, calculators, computers, and phones.
- Ability to push and pull up to 150 pounds on flat and inclined flooring or ramps.
