About the role
The Head Nurse oversees patient care, staff management, and daily operations within a nursing unit. Utilizing the nursing process, they ensure safe, high-quality care that respects patient autonomy and dignity. They provide clinical leadership, collaborating with management to maintain continuity of care aligned with hospital goals and policies.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and review diagnostic data related to patient conditions.
- Collaborate with leadership and other disciplines to identify improvement opportunities and implement change.
- Guide staff during life-threatening situations and evaluate intervention effectiveness.
- Innovate processes to improve patient outcomes.
- Participate in clinical leadership activities such as coaching, mentoring, hiring, evaluations, staffing, and productivity management.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Support ongoing professional development and learning.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience in current unit or similar setting.
- Computer literacy.
- RN licensure and BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
Preferred Skills
- ACLS certification.
