Role Overview

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides a range of therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory procedures for patients of all ages, including ABG analysis, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene, and airway maintenance. Working under indirect supervision, the RRT assesses and treats patients, ensuring safety, quality, and infection control standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform respiratory therapies such as oxygen administration, aerosol therapy, CPR, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures including ABGs, pulse oximetry, and pulmonary function tests.
  • Evaluate patient conditions through physical assessment, interviews, and reviewing medical records.
  • Interpret diagnostic data like CXR, ABG, and PFT results.
  • Assemble, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain cardiopulmonary equipment.
  • Participate in infection control, safety, and quality assurance tasks.
  • Perform equipment cleaning and maintenance; utilize effective communication to enhance patient satisfaction.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NRP and PALS within one year of hire.
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and registered by the NBRC.
  • Preferred: at least 6 months of respiratory care experience; new graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in respiratory assessment, treatment, and equipment management.
  • Strong critical thinking and data interpretation skills.
