About the role
The position involves teaching Nursing courses to both majors and non-majors in various delivery modes, including in-person, online, and hybrid. Responsibilities include curriculum and course development, advising students, and participating in shared governance.
Responsibilities
- Teach 15 contact hours per week and provide a minimum of 5 hours per week of consultation with students.
- Prepare innovative and effective learning experiences, incorporating instructional technology into classroom and laboratory settings.
- Coordinate courses within the discipline, including maintaining syllabus templates, updating course policies, and collaborating with academic leadership.
- Maintain and apply current knowledge of the discipline, engage in professional development, and monitor student progress.
- Support student success by facilitating access to college resources and cooperating with the College community to meet the needs of diverse students.
- Participate in shared governance and advance program, department, school, division, and college-wide initiatives.
Requirements
- Earned Master’s degree or higher in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
- At least two years full-time teaching experience in higher education at a level comparable to a community college.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Competence in designing, organizing, and delivering effective learning experiences.
- Experience with instructional technology and online learning platforms.
- Understanding of the community college mission and ability to work collaboratively with diverse students and colleagues.
- Current RN license from the State of Michigan and three years of medical-surgical clinical experience.
- Experience with curriculum development and/or revision, ACEN accreditation, and instructional technology.
