Nursing Faculty (Full-Time, 9-Month)
About the Role
Blue Ridge Community College is seeking a full-time, 9-month Nursing Faculty for its two-year Associate Degree nursing program. The program is designed to prepare students as contributing members of the health care team, rendering direct patient care as beginning practitioners in various health services facilities. The Associate Degree Nursing Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing (VABON). The program consistently surpasses NCLEX pass rate benchmarks, reflecting the commitment of its faculty and the strength of its curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction focusing on client care across the lifespan in a variety of settings
- Deliver a concept-based curriculum, offering the opportunity to teach a variety of content
- Conduct didactic, clinical, lab, and simulation instruction
- Participate in scholarly engagement and professional development, including teaching pedagogy
- Fulfill institutional responsibility and community service to both the campus and surrounding communities
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor
Qualifications
Required:
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN), OR a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree AND current enrollment in an MSN program
- Current license or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia as a registered nurse (or eligibility to obtain immediate licensure), unrestricted and undisciplined
- Minimum of two years of experience in direct patient care as a registered nurse
- Dedication to the community college mission
- Experience using a variety of computer software programs and ability to learn new ones, particularly related to online instruction
- Ability to teach students effectively and create lesson plans
- Passion for the field of Nursing and for teaching
- Ability to use creativity, innovation, and compassion to instruct and engage students
- Ability to teach a diverse student population
Additional Considerations:
- Previous teaching experience
- Recent acute care experience in a hospital setting
- Use of instructional technologies
Pay
$61,860 - $84,265
Schedule
All nursing courses are delivered in person at the Weyers Cave location, with supplemental online components. Clinical instruction is delivered at a variety of locations and may include day, evening, or weekend instruction. This is a full-time, 9-month position with summers off and time off during semester breaks and holidays.
