Freight Handler - Part-Time

Position Overview: Transport freight within dock areas by handling, securing, and verifying cargo for loading and unloading. Key Responsibilities Operate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.Verify freight documentation for accuracy, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools like straps and pallets.Recoup or repair damaged freight as needed.Complete required reports and documentation accurately.Assist customers with freight and related documentation.Perform hostling duties if required and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation preferred.Ability to perform basic math, lift and carry freight, and open trailer doors.Strong physical ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout shifts.Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.Previous dock or warehouse experience is advantageous. Working Conditions: Dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, and noise. The role involves fast-paced, deadline-driven work with frequent contact with service personnel.
