Freight Handler - Part-Time

Position Overview: Responsible for transporting freight within the dock area to and from trailers for loading and unloading. Ensures proper handling, securing, and documentation of freight, using equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Assists with freight inspection, damage repair, and documentation completion. May perform hostling duties and assist customers as needed, while complying with all safety regulations and company policies. Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old. Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation is advantageous. Ability to perform basic math, lift and carry freight, and work independently or as part of a team. Basic communication skills required. Physical ability to handle freight, open trailer doors, and perform repetitive movements is essential. Key Duties Handle freight using motorized and manual equipment.Verify freight documentation and match descriptions.Secure freight inside trailers with appropriate tools.Recoup or repair damaged freight.Complete required reports and assist with freight documentation.Perform hostling duties if needed, and support customer interactions.Maintain compliance with safety laws and policies. Working Conditions: Dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, noise. Fast-paced, deadline-driven setting with frequent contact with personnel. Lifting and physical tasks performed throughout shifts.
