About the role

We're hiring our first technical recruiter who can own hiring end-to-end. You'll work directly with the founders to define what great talent looks like, then stand up the systems to find, attract, and close those people consistently.

The ideal recruiter is scrappy, relentless, experiments with unconventional channels, metrics-driven, and overall just good vibes. You'll be the first time candidates hear from Parakeet so we're looking for someone to represent the company well.

What You'll Own

  • End-to-end technical recruiting. Sourcing, outreach, screening, coordination, offers, and closing.
  • Candidate experience. Every touchpoint, from the subject line on the first email to day one in the office, should feel like Parakeet Health: personal, thoughtful, responsive.
  • Talent brand and community. Organize technical talks and private dinners. Craft social media posts and thoughtful outreach to attract the best talent.
  • Interview design and calibration. You’ll partner with the founders to keep the bar high and the process tight.
  • Closing strategy. You’ll build the closing plan with the hiring manager well before the offer goes out.
  • Operating with AI. You have a clear point of view on where AI sourcing, drafting, and automation tools create real leverage, and where the human still wins.
  • ATS discipline and metrics. You set the standard for data integrity and you'll make decisions based on the data (e.g., response rates, A/B testing copy).
  • People operations. Because we’re early, the role will also include people ops like onboarding, employee experience, and team events.

What We're Looking For

  • 5–7 years of technical recruiting with meaningful early-stage startup exposure (seed through Series B).
  • A mix of agency and in-house backgrounds. You've built pipelines from scratch, not just managed inbound flow.
  • Proven track record hiring strong engineers across a range of profiles: backend, AI/ML, infra, full-stack, data science.
  • High agency, low ego. You don't wait for perfect instructions. You see a gap and fix it.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator. Concise, personal, persuasive.
  • Hands-on fluency with modern AI sourcing tools. You know what saves real time and what's hype, and you invest in tuning your filters rather than letting automated outreach run unchecked.
  • Genuine curiosity about engineering and healthcare. You can hold a coherent conversation with a senior engineer about what they do, what they care about, and why it matters.
  • You’re passionate about improving patients’ lives and can evangelize the mission.
  • Strong closer. You navigate competing offers, comp negotiations, and ambivalent candidates with calm and a plan.
  • Operating discipline to run 6+ searches in parallel without dropping details. Your ATS is always clean.

Location

This role is in-person, 5 days a week at our downtown San Francisco office (by Montgomery BART).
