This position is located in a snack bar on the Island of Oahu, preparing a limited variety of short-order fast food items.
Responsibilities
- Prepares fast food items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fish and chicken sandwiches, pizzas, and French fries.
- Removes perishable foods from the freezer for daily activities.
- Ensures tables and work surfaces are promptly cleared and cleaned.
- Cleans work areas, including walls, floors, equipment, and storage areas.
- Accepts food orders from patrons and serves alcoholic beverages.
- Verifies accuracy of guest checks through spot checks.
- Acts as cashier, receiving payment by cash or charge, and completes cash reports at the end of the shift.
- Orders fast food items, condiments, and necessary supplies.
- Takes delivery of supplies and ensures proper storage.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- May be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card.
- Must complete a minimum of 4 hours of initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment, with 4 hours of refresher training annually.
- Must meet state/local age requirement of 21 at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.
- Certificate of Medical Examination is required.
- Light to heavy physical effort is required, including lifting and moving objects up to 40 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds).
- Must be able to walk, stoop, bend, pull, push, reach, and stand for long periods.
- May be required to work on ladders and use power cleaning equipment.
- Exposure to risks such as falling from ladders, slipping on spills, and contact with hot liquids, sharp blades, and extreme temperature changes.
- May work indoors in kitchen and dining room conditions or outdoors in various weather conditions running a food cart.
Qualifications
- Resumes must be two pages or less and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Experience or training indicating sufficient knowledge and skills to perform duties consistent with acceptable trade practices, including:
- Basic food preparation and handling techniques.
- Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and order.
- Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of basic sanitation principles.
- Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
- Able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds and frequently walk, bend, stoop, pull, push, and reach.

Pay
- This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system.
- Overtime pay is earned for working more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week, whichever benefits the employee more.
- Eligible for Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays.
- May receive extra pay if the majority of scheduled hours fall after 3:00 PM.
- Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials are not paid.
