Responsibilities

  • Prepares a variety of short-order fast food items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fish and chicken sandwiches, pizzas, and French fries.
  • Coordinates food and beverage needs for special events, including preparing and serving food and cleaning work areas.
  • Serves as cashier in the snack bar, receiving payment by cash or charge, and completes cash report at the end of assigned shift.
  • Prepares and slices lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and other vegetables for sandwiches, salads, and pizzas.
  • Ensures tables, work surfaces, walls, floors, equipment, and storage areas are promptly cleared and cleaned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks, including a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must complete a minimum of 4 hours of initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and 4 hours of refresher training annually.
  • Certificate of Medical Examination is required.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds, occasionally lifting 45 pounds, and frequently walk, bend, stoop, pull, push, and reach.
  • Must meet state/local age (18) requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.

  • Experience or training indicating sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties consistent with acceptable practices of the trade.
  • Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain neat, clean, and orderly work environments.
  • Basic food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation principles.
  • Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.

Pay

This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week, whichever provides the greater benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible for extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.

Schedule

Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Area of consideration: Fort Polk commuting area (50 miles). Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included.
