Floor Care Lead
About the role
This position supports three custodial zone supervisors in managing floor-care tasks within a research environment. It involves coordinating work schedules, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and leading a team of floor-care specialists.
Responsibilities
- Follows safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment.
- Operates various floor-care and carpet care equipment.
- Trains new floor-care crew members.
- Maintains and inspects floors, moving furniture as needed.
- Communicates with faculty, students, and staff during work shifts.
- Solves challenges and adheres to strict time-sensitive work schedules.
- Reports equipment issues and maintains inventory.
- Assists supervisors with timekeeping and work order records.
- Works graveyard shift, requiring flexibility and potential overtime.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive custodial/floor-care experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of steam, encapsulation, dry, and bonnet cleaning techniques.
- Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one before employment.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis and bend down to clean corners.
- Ability to work graveyard shift (11:00 pm – 7:30 am, Monday-Friday).

Pay
$22.25 - $29.25 per hour. Final salary will be determined based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
Schedule
Graveyard shift (11:00 pm – 7:30 am, Monday-Friday), with potential overtime hours as needed/required.
