One Medical is a primary care solution challenging the industry status quo by making quality care more affordable, accessible and enjoyable. We’re on a mission to transform healthcare, improving the experience for patients, providers, employers, and health networks. Our seamless in-office and 24/7 virtual care services, on-site labs, and programs for preventive care, chronic care management, common illnesses, and mental health concerns have been delighting people for the past fifteen years. In February 2023, One Medical joined Amazon to deliver exceptional healthcare to more consumers, employers, care team members, and health networks.

About the role

As a One Medical Phlebotomist/Administrative Assistant (internally known as Lab Services Specialist/Member Support Specialist), you’ll provide an exceptional experience for patients and help them accomplish an important part of their care journey through venipuncture and other clinical support services. You will be an ambassador for patients, mastering human connection and demonstrating a strong drive for service. You will remove barriers to care, ensuring a truly exceptional in-office patient experience. As the steward of the space, you’ll maintain the look and feel of the office lobby to align with the One Medical brand. You will be the first point of contact for patients and provide support as requested by the Practice Coordinator, Operations Manager, or providers. This float role supports multiple offices in a market, requiring strong teamwork and innovative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Use impeccable C-I-CARE (a communication framework) in all patient interactions, both clinical and administrative, ensuring a fluid and positive in-office experience through patient intake, schedule management, follow-up scheduling, billing and insurance knowledge, monitoring patient feedback, and assisting with outreach.
  • Provide best-in-class venipuncture services for a population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Perform and assist with extended scope duties such as non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs.
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization.
  • Care for members beyond the lab room by answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting providers and the virtual medical team with clerical duties such as biometric screening forms, medical record reviews, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting.
  • Handle front-of-house duties including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, printing/paperwork tasks, prepping tests, and tasking to service level expectations.
  • Contribute to team development through rounding, attending team huddles, participating in problem-solving, and supporting in-office providers with ad hoc tasks.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, daily office upkeep, maintaining patient and employee-facing spaces, restocking supplies, and organization.
  • Master technology tools including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, and the Electronic Medical Record System to interact with team members and complete daily work.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingual applicants encouraged to apply.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer technology, such as typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (remote team experience a plus).
  • Ability to display confidence and instill trust during specimen collection while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care.
  • Proven track record of persisting through change, stepping up to tackle challenges, and learning quickly when faced with new situations or tasks.
