About Us

One Medical is a primary care solution challenging the industry status quo by making quality care more affordable, accessible and enjoyable. We’re on a mission to transform healthcare, improving the experience for everyone involved—from patients and providers to employers and health networks. Our seamless in-office and 24/7 virtual care services, on-site labs, and programs for preventive care, chronic care management, common illnesses, and mental health concerns have been delighting people for the past fifteen years. In February 2023, One Medical joined Amazon to deliver exceptional healthcare to more consumers, employers, care team members, and health networks to achieve better health outcomes.

As we continue to grow and seek to impact more lives, we’re building a diverse, driven, and empathetic team while cultivating an environment where everyone can thrive.

About the Role

As a Float One Medical Phlebotomist/Administrative Assistant (internally known as Lab Services Specialist/Member Support Specialist), you’ll provide an exceptional experience for our patients, particularly those in our Senior Health member population (age 65+). You’ll assist in their care journey by providing venipuncture and other clinical support services. As an ambassador for patients, you’ll remove barriers to care and ensure a truly exceptional in-office experience. You’ll be the first point of contact for patients and provide support as requested by the Practice Coordinator, Operations Manager, or providers.

This role supports multiple offices in a market, requiring strong teamwork and innovative problem-solving skills. You’ll combine excellent specimen collection technique with tactful interpersonal skills during every interaction, both at the front desk and in the lab. You’ll use empathy, focus, and compassion in all interactions with patients and teammates, thriving in a feedback-driven culture that adapts to patient and team needs.

Responsibilities

  • Use impeccable C-I-CARE (a communication framework) in all patient interactions, ensuring a fluid and positive in-office experience through patient intake, schedule management, follow-up scheduling, billing, insurance knowledge, and patient feedback monitoring.
  • Provide best-in-class venipuncture services for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, depending on the office location.
  • Perform and assist with extended scope duties, including non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs.
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization.
  • Assist with patient messages, lab case follow-ups, and clerical duties such as biometric screening forms, medical record reviews, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting.
  • Handle front-of-house duties, including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, paperwork tasks, test preparation, and task management to service level expectations.
  • Contribute to team development through rounding, attending huddles, participating in problem-solving, and supporting providers with ad hoc tasks.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including daily office upkeep, maintaining the look and feel of patient and employee spaces, restocking supplies, and organization.
  • Master technology tools such as Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, and our Electronic Medical Record System to interact with team members and complete daily work.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer technology, including typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (remote team experience is a plus).
  • Ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care.
  • Proven track record of persisting through change, stepping up to tackle challenges, and learning quickly when faced with new situations or tasks.
