Flight Test Dispatcher I

The Flight Test Planner requires a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision. As a member of the Flight Test Support group, your positive and proactive approach will contribute to the overall success of the team. The Flight Test Engineers (FTE), Ground Test Engineers (GTE), and Pilot groups depend on your ability to balance operational demands with capacity constraints while providing timely scheduling decisions that enable the team to operate safely and efficiently.

Our Engineers at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facility take our aircraft from concept to customer delivery—working with production teams on every aspect of assembly, including managing technical information, quality control, maintenance tasks, and health & safety—along flowlines and flightlines. Working environment

Located on ‘Airbus Way,’ the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015. The facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. This facility strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and is part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Flight Test team representative in scheduling meetings with MAP, Flightline, and Quality teams, including Delivery Center planning meetings.
• Manage schedules through TimeBox (Flight Test scheduling system) to maximize Flight Test support for A320 and A220 Flight Test activities.
• Ensure information flow between the SA Aircraft technical group and the Production flight test team in Mobile.
• Handle resource planning and crew scheduling, including all stakeholders, to efficiently support A220 and A320 program flight activity requests.
• Coordinate communication between Production, Quality, Engineering, and Flight Test regarding all support requests (including airport operations and Airbus ground personnel).
• Track crew qualifications and mission organization support requirements.
• Ensure equipment and flight test equipment is secured in a timely manner using Click n Buy in coordination with Airbus SAS - Flight Test.
• Organize and oversee Flight Test department team meetings.
• Produce clear and concise technical and KPI reports to brief upper management on challenges and opportunities for improvement.
• Compile Flight Crew equipment requirements and order through approved vendors.
• Ensure technical information about new features or standards is distributed appropriately within the Flight Test team.
• Perform additional tasks to support the group’s operations, such as participating in software updates and continuously improving ways of working.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Aeronautics, or Engineering preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of aviation industry experience.
• Previous experience in a Flight Crew Scheduling Department.
• Demonstrated soft skills, including communication, situational awareness, and workload management.
• Ability to work under pressure, with short deadlines and a changing environment.
• Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Well-organized, self-directed, and an engaged, collaborative team player.
• Customer-focused with a strong business orientation.
• FAA aircraft dispatcher certification preferred.
• FCC Radio license or ground control experience preferred.
• FAA pilot certifications or international equivalent preferred.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, and effective result-oriented problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Office productivity tools; Google Workspace preferred.
• Previous experience conducting communication tests with aircraft preferred.
• TSA waiver submission and modification coordination preferred.
• Previous NavBlue or similar flight planning software experience preferred.

• Travel Required: 10-20% domestic and international travel for training and certification.

• Carrying: Several times a week, ability to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
• Lifting: Several times a week, ability to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
• Pushing/Pulling: Several times a week, ability to push and pull small office furniture, equipment, and tools.
• Sitting: Daily ability to sit for long periods in meetings or while working on a computer.
• Squatting/Kneeling: Several times a month, ability to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving.
• Standing: Daily ability to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
• Walking: Daily ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
• Appropriate hearing/eye protection may be required when visiting the shop floor and flightline.
