FIT NYC Adjunct Faculty Pool - Animation and Game Design, Illustration and Interactive Media
FIT, an internationally renowned college of art and design, business, and technology within the State University of New York, seeks a part-time adjunct faculty member for the Illustration and Interactive Media Department in the School of Art and Design. About the Role
The Illustration and Interactive Media department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. Successful candidates will be industry-leading animators (2D and/or 3D) and game designers (2D and/or 3D) with demonstrated forward-thinking creativity and exceptional storytelling abilities. Adjunct instructors deliver course material, assess student performance, provide guidance, and submit grades on time.
Responsibilities
- Teach technical courses and design studios
- Instruct and ensure the safe use of tools and machinery
- Communicate conceptual ideas for class projects through lectures and visual presentations
- Assess student performance and provide guidance both in and out of the classroom
- Submit grades on time
Requirements
- Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of teaching experience at the college level
- Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent
Skills
- Award-winning creativity and story development
- Expertise in After Effects
- Expertise in 3D modeling and animation software such as Maya
- Expertise in game engines such as Unity and Unreal
- Expertise in real-time rendering in 3D graphics and games
- Expertise in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies
- Expertise in audio/sound design
- Ability to teach character design, storyboarding, 2D animation, 3D modeling, and 3D animation
Pay
$89.98 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step, and appointment rank may be higher depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience, as outlined in the UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement.
