Fiscal Technician (Local Government)
About the role
The Fiscal Technician - Accounts Payable role involves processing invoices and expense reports for various programs including Foster Care and Child Welfare Day Care payroll. Duties include ensuring compliance with legal requirements, reviewing invoices for accuracy, and supporting the administrative needs of the department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure invoices meet all Federal, State, and County mandated requirements and ensure timely and accurate reimbursement
- Review and ensure accuracy of invoice amounts, proper signatures, certification statements, and other documentation if needed
- Make corrections when necessary; perform data entry; code each invoice accurately; and file invoices after payment verification
- Match check requests generated by upload invoices, give to accountant for signature, make copies and batch to Comptrollers’ Office
- Type vouchers, separate and distribute copies to necessary parties, keep a log of transactions, help resolve discrepancies, reconcile receipts, prepare quarterly reports
- Auxiliary Support: Archive files, help process purchase requisitions, and assist with other fiscal or program duties and tasks as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Fiscal Assistant; or Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices; and graduation from high school; or One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an associate degree in accounting or business administration; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
