Fiscal Technician III
General Description
Provides bookkeeping services for the school or department. Performs a variety of moderately complex work within established procedures and standard practices. Work is performed under general supervision without specific instruction and requires coordination with others at all organizational levels within and outside the department. Considerable judgment and the ability to prioritize and organize work is required; may require handling of sensitive information.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides bookkeeping services for the school/department.
- Balances and maintains the accounts for both county appropriated funds and activity funds.
- Presents invoices to submit to accounts payable for payment and tracks status.
- Collects activity fees for a variety of programs; records and reconciles all monies received.
- Writes checks and prepares reports of monthly transactions for the finance department.
- Reconciles bank statements on a monthly basis and follows standard accounting procedures.
- Prepares and tracks status of non-contractual agreements.
- Aids the office manager with ordering and maintaining office supplies.
- Ensures availability of funds for purchases.
- Aids the school/department with the yearly budget process.
- Prepares year end reports including year-to-date and audit reports.
- Attends training sessions to stay informed of current and revised policies and procedures; ensures related policy and procedure manuals are up-to-date.
- Aids the administration in training school personnel on proper procedures for receipting funds and requesting disbursements.
- Might perform the office management functions in the absence of the office manager.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of bookkeeping and general accounting principles and practices; of office operations and procedures; business English and mathematics and technology to include manual and automated filing systems.
- Considerable skill in the use of a personal computer and appropriate software; word processing.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations and reconcile accounts; to assemble data and prepare reports and spreadsheets; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to interpret and apply policies and procedures; to organize and prioritize work; to exercise judgment and to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Education, training or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
