Firefighter (Basic Life Support/Hazmat Tech).

About the role

This position is responsible for responding to alarms and combating fires and emergencies, rescuing people in danger, removing people from buildings and other structures, assisting in fire prevention inspections, performing maintenance and housekeeping duties, and responding to accidents and other emergencies involving injuries and illnesses.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examinations in accordance with DoDM 6055.05.
• Lifting capacity up to 45 lbs.
• Required to participate in a cardiovascular physical fitness program.
• Travel for business (TDY) is required up to 5% of the time.
• Must possess and maintain the following Department of Defense certifications: HazMat Awareness, HazMat Operations, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator - Pumper, Driver Operator - ARFF, Driver Operator - Aerial, Driver Operator - MWS.
• Probationary period of one year.

Qualifications

• US Citizens only.
• Specialized experience: Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade.
• Education: Two years of education above the high school level in an accredited college or university in Fire Science, Fire Training, or other related fields.
• Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
• Selective Placement Factors: Possession and maintenance of the following Department of Defense certifications: HazMat Awareness, HazMat Operations, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator - Pumper, Driver Operator - ARFF, Driver Operator - Aerial, Driver Operator - MWS.
