About the role
As an Experitec Field Service Technician in our Engineering Services organization, you will establish strong relationships with Experitec's customers. Through these relationships, you will identify and address areas of improvement within customers' facilities. Your service opportunities will often include calibration, performance diagnosis, commissioning, and maintenance of instrumentation systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide instrument services to maximize the value of customers' process control systems.
- Perform on-site on-demand and contract field services to support customers' installed base.
- Support customers with instrumentation, including diagnostic, troubleshooting, calibration, and start-up and commissioning services.
- Thoroughly track all required data and issue site visit and calibration reports.
- Recommend approaches on repair, replace, and upgrades.
- Provide informal and on-the-job customer training.
- Effectively communicate customer needs and opportunities to the organization and utilize technical skills and abilities to develop tactics and strategies to support customer needs.
- Serve as an on-site safety advocate, promoting and ensuring a safe work environment for all team members.
- Perform services to support customers through diagnostics, troubleshooting, calibrations, start-ups, and commissioning services.
- Effectively communicate customer needs and opportunities to the organization and utilize technical skills and abilities to develop tactics and strategies to support customer needs.
Requirements
- Possess a hands-on approach, a strong work ethic, refined troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to excellence with a strong desire to lead by example, as well as work with others.
- Associate degree OR High School Diploma or equivalent with two or more years of relevant experience OR similar combination of education and/or experience.
- Two or more years of relevant work experience demonstrating a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Two or more years of experience with installing, troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, modifying, overhauling, diagnosing, testing and/or maintaining any or all of the following – instrumentation and instrument systems, pumps, motors, motor control and electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Strong ability to focus on customer’s needs and drive toward business goals.
- Basic experience utilizing Microsoft Office Excel & Word, Outlook email, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively within a business system.
- Ability to work at customer sites most days Monday through Friday for 8 hours per day while occasionally working from home or Experitec offices.
- Ability to work overtime as needed with shifts extending beyond 8 hours to meet customer needs.
- Ability to work infrequent weekends and holidays with the flexibility to travel via plane with little notice to meet customer needs.
- Ability to independently travel to customer sites located within our service territory and the territories of our Impact Partners (including ability for regional and cross-country overnight travel 10-35% of the time) utilizing company per diem for meals/lodging.
- Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with customers and co-workers.
- Ability to comply with site safety regulations and dedication to a safe work environment through ongoing training, housekeeping, and workplace safety.
- Ability to drive for the company with a valid driver’s license, pass driving record background check, and use company vehicle, personal vehicle and/or air travel.
- Ability to utilize personal vehicle for the majority of work travel AND ability to rent a car when requested by supervisor for work travel.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in manufacturing and data center environments with shifting and extreme temperatures.
- Ability to wear PPE as appropriate for potential environmental hazards.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and to perform elevated work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree.
- Five or more years of relevant work experience.
- Five or more years of experience with installing, troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, modifying, overhauling, diagnosing, testing and/or maintaining any or all of the following – instrumentation and instrument systems, pumps, motors, motor control and electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Experience troubleshooting, commissioning and calibrating instrumentation, field devices, and equipment.
- Prior work experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, temperature, pressure, flow, and/or mechanical dynamics.
- Demonstrated track record of exemplary customer focus.
- Experience recommending and implementing a process improvement initiative.
- Experience with service expansion initiatives that impacted the business.
