FIELD SERVICES TECHNICIAN (AUTOMATION)

Core Responsibilities

• Install and commission custom automation machinery at customer facilities.
• Support on-site startup, I/O checkout, and Factory or Site Acceptance Testing.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems.
• Repair and diagnose PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, and industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet, Profinet).
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated warehouse and manufacturing equipment.
• Implement system retrofits, fine adjustments, and process optimizations.
• Provide training and technical guidance to customer maintenance and engineering teams.
• Document work performed, complete field service reports, and update wiring schematics.
• Enforce safety protocols including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and JHA (Job Hazard Analysis).

Core Requirements

• Educational Background: Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent military/vocational training) and 2 to 5+ years of hands-on experience with industrial automation.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read schematics and interpret mechanical drawings. Familiarity navigating software for PLC/Robotic interfaces (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc).
• Travel: Ability to travel frequently to customer sites (often 40% to 80% of the time), sometimes on short notice.
