Field Service Engineer - NM

This role involves on-the-road travel, staying in hotels 3-4 nights per week after completing a 2-4 week training program at our facility in Holland, Michigan.

About the Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will perform field installations, start-ups, preventative maintenance, and performance tests to ensure products comply with manufacturing prints and engineering specifications. You will also document product performance, train users on proper operation and maintenance, and troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate refrigeration, electronics, and electro-mechanical systems using prints and schematics.

You will build and maintain positive customer relationships by coordinating service calls, explaining retrofit benefits, establishing preventive maintenance contracts, and performing general service work. Additionally, you will maintain knowledge of warranty, maintenance, and service policies, keep vehicle logs, and submit detailed field service and travel expense reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform field installations and start-ups of products.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and performance tests to verify compliance with specifications.
• Document installed product performance.
• Train and instruct product users on proper operation and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate refrigeration, electronics, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Establish and maintain positive customer relationships.
• Coordinate service calls and generate work opportunities.
• Explain benefits of refrigeration and controller retrofits.
• Establish preventive maintenance contracts.
• Maintain knowledge of company warranty, maintenance, and service policies.
• Maintain vehicle logs, travel schedules, and expense reports.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of refrigeration experience with a solid understanding of single-stage refrigeration (cascade refrigeration knowledge a plus).
• 2+ years of work experience or training in commercial/industrial refrigeration or HVAC/R.
• Experience with electronics and controls programming.
• Work experience in a related service capacity.
• EPA Universal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in the environmental simulation systems industry preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands

The role requires regular standing, frequent use of hands to handle tools, climbing, balancing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. You must be able to:

• Regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds.
• Frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds.
• Occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Possess close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel

• Weekly local and regional travel to customer facilities.
• Paid 100% of hourly wage for travel time.
• $350 per diem paid weekly for personal expenses (no receipts required).
• 100% of travel costs covered by the company.
• Company vehicle provided.
