About the role
The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for providing on-site setup and installation of EFI industrial inkjet printers at customer locations. The role involves working with customers to prepare for installations, setting up and adjusting the printers, and ensuring they meet factory standards. Additionally, the engineer will provide ongoing customer training and perform periodic troubleshooting and repairs.
Responsibilities
- Un-crating EFI industrial inkjet printers and their components
- Checking electrical power and compressed air
- Initial setup and adjustment of the printers
- Thoroughly testing the printers to ensure they meet factory standards
- Providing initial and ongoing formal customer operator and printer maintenance training
- Coordinating with EFI Inkjet customer support team for complex issues
- Providing detailed technical feedback through EFI Inkjet Case Management System (CMS)
- Traveling up to 75% of the workweek and occasionally working weekends to meet customer needs
Requirements
- Minimum two-year technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, digital, and electronic technology
- Minimum two years in field engineering positions servicing complex electro-mechanical devices and high demand customer locations
- Demonstrated customer management skills and strong commitment to customer satisfaction
- Effective management of assets such as parts, tools, and company information
- Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to the component level
- Ability to provide telephone technical support and communicate effectively (telephone and email)
- Working knowledge of RIPS, color theory, Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, and basic networking protocols
- Working knowledge of materials and chemicals used in the printing industry (highly desirable)
- In-depth knowledge of personal computers, industrial inkjet printers, large format printers, and printing applications
- Ability to identify and qualify single phase as well as three phase power requirements
- Frequent lifting of objects up to 70lbs
- Ability to work within tight spaces and physically contort to access components

- Experience in the manufacturing of signage, packaging, textiles, ceramic tiles, building materials, commercial print, and personalized documents
- Experience with EFI's wide range of printers, inks, digital front ends, and workflow solutions
- Commitment to increasing profits, cutting costs, improving productivity, and optimizing efficiency for customers
