Family Support Partner

Responsibilities

• Provide education, guidance, and support to families of children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing mental health challenges.
• Navigate complex social, legal, educational, and healthcare systems on behalf of families.
• Deliver family-to-family support through advocacy, coaching, education, and resource coordination.
• Accurately inform families about available resources and services.
• Connect families to appropriate services and referrals.
• Ensure ongoing follow-up to support families in accessing and sustaining needed care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) preferred; required within six months of hire.
• Personal, lived experience as a primary caregiver of a youth, adolescent, or young adult who has/had mental health needs.
• Prior experience assisting other families to obtain appropriate services and supports for their child and family members.

Probationary Period

All persons that are newly hired, rehired, transferred, promoted, or demoted into a Rockbridge Area Community Services position must serve a new 6-month probationary period.
