Description
Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has since expanded to operate across multiple states including the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Thompson's continuum of care includes prevention, mental health services, and foster care, all of which are trauma-informed and evidence-based.
What will you do as a Family Support Partner?
As a Family Support Partner in the Wrap Around -Charlotte department, you will provide education and assistance in navigating child-serving systems such as child welfare, education, behavioral/mental health, juvenile justice, school, primary care, etc. You will support legal guardians in developing the skills necessary to complete and locate referrals. A typical day may involve providing 9-12 hours of support mentorship to legal guardians in various settings, including school, home, and community, focusing on building relationships with guardians.
Your schedule will be non-traditional, typically from 9 AM to 5 PM, excluding weekends and on-call periods. Mentors will serve their youth in person or virtually within Charlotte and its surrounding areas.

Starting Pay Range: $17.42-$19.47 hourly

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Experience as a primary caregiver of a youth with special needs or a history of involvement in child welfare.
- National certification or in the process of obtaining national certification as a Parent Support Provider.
- One year of experience working with the target population OR;
- An associate degree in the human service field and one year of experience working with children/adolescents/transition youth OR;
- A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of five years' experience working as a primary caregiver of children/adolescents/transition age youth.
Must have a valid Driver’s License and meet any credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
Position requires mobility in the counties served (Mecklenburg, Stanly, Union, and Cabarrus counties), remote work, and occasional commute to the office.
