Job Summary
AFFN provides family support services to parents raising a child with behavioral health concerns. Family Support Partners use their lived experience to provide support in the family's home or community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with providers and direct support and services for families.
- Connect families to other families and community resources.
- Collect and document information about family strengths and needs.
- Document services according to agency policies.
- Coordinate home visits with the Supervisor for review.
- Complete time sheets and flex time when approved.
- Attend and participate in staff training and meetings.
- Represent the family perspective in appropriate meetings.
- Implement the program’s vision and philosophy.
- Maintain a positive professional reputation.
- Collaborate with supervisors, other staff, and partners to solve problems.
- Provide emotional support to families.
- Identify and assist families in accessing appropriate services and resources.
- Train families in advocacy and social/emotional development.
- Assist families in completing essential activities.
- Recruit and connect families to system-level opportunities.
- Prepare families for court and provide necessary resources.
- Respond to new families within required timeframe.
Qualifications
- Direct experience raising a child with mental health or emotional challenges.
- Experience working with families and communities on behalf of children with mental health issues.
- Knowledge of the mental health system and other Allegheny County child-serving systems.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook, and Publisher.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to set priorities and manage multiple job responsibilities.
- Familiarity with community resources and services for children.
- Negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a culturally competent manner.
- Completion of all applicable training resulting in certification or credentialing (training will be provided).
Specific Position Requirements
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, data entry, and ability to learn.
- Current, valid PA driver’s license.
- Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to pass Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Act 33/34, FBI, and NSOR Clearances.
- $41,000.00 Annual Salary, medical, dental, vision, generous paid time off, and ongoing training.
- Monday – Friday 7.5 hours per day. Flexible hours based on clients' needs.
